A Parent’s Trust
Something truly interesting happens when you've been serving clients for a long time.
This year, for the first time in my career, something happened that hit me harder than I expected.
A past client that I helped purchase a home several years ago contacted me because their son was engaged, getting married, and ready to buy his first home.
They wanted me to help him find it.
Out of all the things that have happened this year, that is one of the moments I won't forget.
As a parent, it meant a lot to me.
I know how much I love my own children. I know how protective I am of them. I know that when it comes to important decisions in their lives, I want the very best people around them.
And if I ever tell my son, "This is someone you can trust," I don't say that lightly.
I say it because I truly believe that person will look out for his best interests.
That's why this meant so much.
This wasn't just a past client calling me to buy or sell another house.
This was a parent trusting me with their child.
A child who, in their eyes, probably still feels like yesterday's little boy, even though he's now engaged and starting a life of his own.
For someone to trust me enough to say, "I want you to help my son with one of the biggest financial decisions he'll make," is something I don't really have words for.
It was humbling.
It was meaningful.
And honestly, it made me stop and reflect on just how long I've been fortunate enough to serve people in this community.
Real estate is often measured in sales, closings, and numbers.
But moments like this remind me that the relationships are what matter most.
Because years after the paperwork is signed and the keys are handed over, trust is still what brings people back.
And being trusted by a parent to help guide their child through the purchase of their first home is one of the greatest compliments I've ever received.
That's one I'll carry with me for a long time.
